Following talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Astana, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited German companies to conduct geological exploration and extract rare earth metals in the republic. This was reported by the press service of the Kazakh leader.
Tokayev proposed establishing cooperation on the principle of “raw materials in exchange for technology” with primary and secondary processing of ores. According to him, Astana intends to provide investors from Germany with favorable conditions.
During the summit of the heads of state of Central Asia, the head of Kazakhstan also spoke in favor of increasing trade turnover between the countries and expressed readiness to increase exports to Germany for one hundred commodity items in the amount of 850 million dollars. He supported the idea of creating an economic council that could increase the inflow of German investment.
Kazakhstan supplies oil to Germany via the Druzhba oil pipeline, which runs through Russia and Belarus. Berlin agreed on deliveries in 2022 when it refused to purchase Russian raw materials.
