Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov expects that this will speed up the construction of a mining and processing plant with an annual processing capacity of up to 24 million tons of ore
TASS, September 2. A new tender for the development of the Ak-Sug metal ore deposit in Tuva will be held before the end of 2024. This was announced by Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the socio-economic development of Tuva.
“The previous owner of the Ak-Sug license (the Intergeo company – TASS note) was not active in its development. In this regard, a tender will be held before the end of the year to transfer the license to a more responsible user. We expect that this will speed up the construction of a mining and processing plant with an annual processing capacity of up to 24 million tons of ore to obtain 500 thousand tons of copper concentrate, molybdenum and various other associated components,” Alikhanov said.
According to him, a high-voltage line worth 26 billion rubles will be built to supply electricity to the deposit, of which 14 billion rubles have already been allocated, the remaining 12 billion rubles will be allocated in the next three years.
In August 2024, the Arbitration Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory received an application from the company “Intergeo” to recognize the decision of the Rosnedra commission on the early termination of the license for the deposit as illegal. The court has left the application pending for now, and the company has been asked to provide additional documents by September 23.
The Ak-Sug project is one of the five largest in Russia in terms of copper reserves
