On March 5, 2025, the Novosibirsk Automobile Plant hosted the shipment ceremony of the first body, which was manufactured as part of a joint project with the Severstal metallurgical company. Novosibirsk ARZ acted as a key partner in the production of the body according to the drawings of Severstal.
Innovative development
When creating the new structure, Severstal engineers applied advanced mathematical modeling methods. This made it possible to maintain the rigidity of the original body, reduce metal consumption by 16%, and reduce production costs by 10%. Modern steel grades were used for the manufacture of the body: wear-resistant Powerhard 450 and high-strength Powerweld 420.
Collaboration and results
A key role in the implementation of the project was played by cooperation with the Novosibirsk ARZ. The overall objective was to create a body adapted to the harsh operating conditions in the Siberian mines. The result is a lightweight, durable and technologically advanced body.
This project has become an outstanding example of cooperation between leading Russian companies, including PJSC Severstal, NORDGOLD, LLC NovosibARZ-Stal and JSC NovosibARZ.
Trials and prospects
The body will undergo pilot industrial tests in Yakutia. After testing, a decision will be made to launch mass production.
“The project to create a body for a dump truck is another step in the development of our line of specialized products for the mining industry,” said Georgy Argunov, Director of Work with Engineering Companies at Severstal.
This innovative project demonstrates Severstal’s commitment to developing and improving technologies in the mining industry.
