During the working meeting, Oleg Kazanov, head of Rosnedra, and Vasily Orlov, Governor of the Amur Region, discussed key issues of the development of subsurface use in the region. The main topics of the negotiations were the rational use of mineral resources, environmental standards in the extractive industry and prospects for the development of new deposits.
The mining industry is a driver of the Amur Region’s economy
Governor Vasily Orlov noted the importance of the mining complex for the region:
— The annual gold production in the Amur region is about 19 tons, while ore mining prevails.
— Large enterprises of the industry contribute not only to industry, but also to social infrastructure.
Special attention was paid to environmental aspects:
“We have a good experience of cooperation with Rosnedra regarding the introduction of a moratorium on the issuance of search licenses. According to experts, the environmental situation in the field of placer gold has improved. I want to thank you for that. We will continue to work together,” Vasily Orlov emphasized.
Prospects for the development of new deposits
During the meeting, plans for the development of:
— Gold deposits were discussed
— Coal projects
Oleg Kazanov announced the launch of a program of regular working visits by the leadership of Rosnedra to the regions, with the Amur Region becoming the first subject in this project.
“The bulk of Rosnedra’s work is carried out in the regions. Key decisions in the field of subsurface use are made here, and they must be consistent with territorial development plans. The Amur Region is one of the most active participants in this interaction,” Oleg Kazanov noted.
The Amur Region remains one of the key regions for the Russian mining industry, and cooperation with Rosnedra contributes to the sustainable development of the industry.
