Kazakh Invest: Norilsk Nickel is considering gold and copper mining in Kazakhstan
ASTANA, 23 Sep – PRIME. Norilsk Nickel is considering prospects for cooperation in the mining and development of copper and gold in the Almaty region in southeastern Kazakhstan, the press service of the national company Kazakh Invest reported on Monday.
“A meeting has been organized between the domestic junior subsoil user company and representatives of PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel. During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation in the extraction and development of copper and gold in the Almaty region were discussed,” the report published on the Kazakh Invest website says.
It is reported that Norilsk Nickel representatives are currently considering the possibility of investing in mining projects in Kazakhstan and are studying subsoil use sites from the national company’s project pool.
Norilsk Nickel is a diversified mining and metallurgical company. The world’s largest producer of palladium and high-grade nickel, a leading producer of platinum, cobalt, copper and rhodium. The main production units are located in the Norilsk industrial region, on the Kola Peninsula and in the Trans-Baikal Territory.
