MOSCOW, November 19. Norilsk Nickel will become carbon neutral by 2060, along with the whole of Russia. This was stated to TASS by Norilsk Nickel Vice President for Ecology and Industrial Safety Stanislav Seleznev.
“If the country has declared carbon neutrality in 2060, then I do not see any options for any individual company to take a different path. We are obliged to follow the goals of the Russian Federation,” Seleznev said.
According to him, for this purpose, the company is developing forest and climate projects, a solar power plant is planned to be launched, and production is being modernized to reduce the carbon footprint.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. He called this goal absolutely realistic and providing new opportunities for business.
