The unit’s productivity will more than double after reconstruction
MOSCOW, July 23. /TASS/. Metalloinvest is upgrading the thickening and recycling water supply system of the Lebedinsky GOK enrichment plant; the company intends to invest more than 10 billion rubles in the reconstruction of the system. This was stated in a statement by the company.
Metalloinvest has also already invested more than 800 million rubles in the reconstruction of the largest 100-meter thickener in Russia (a device for clarifying process water, removing small particles of crushed ores from it and thickening the pulp) at the Lebedinsky GOK enrichment plant. All the main equipment of the new thickener is domestically produced, and the bulk of the metal structures and building materials were supplied by enterprises from the Belgorod Region, Metalloinvest added.
The unit’s productivity will more than double after reconstruction, from 12 to 27 thousand cubic meters. m of water per hour. The solids content in the thickened product will increase threefold – up to 60%, which will ensure a high density of “tailings” packing, reduce dusting and increase the volume of clarified water returned to the technological process at the beneficiation plant.
Metalloinvest recalled that in 2023, a 62 m diameter thickener was already commissioned, and by August 2026, seven 50 m diameter thickeners and two 100 m diameter thickeners will be reconstructed. “Reconstruction of the thickening and recycling water supply system is an important stage in the implementation of a large-scale project to build a new environmentally efficient tailings storage facility for LGOK and reduce the impact on the environment,” the company said.
Metalloinvest is a world leader in the production of commercial hot briquetted iron, the second largest pellet producer in the world, and the largest iron ore company in Russia and the CIS. Explored iron ore reserves according to JORC are 15.4 billion tons.
100% of Metalloinvest shares are controlled by the USM holding, the main shareholder of which is Alisher Usmanov.
