In 2025, the Moscow Stock Exchange recorded a record growth in the volume of trading in precious metals

The total volume of gold transactions on the Moscow Stock Exchange in 2025 amounted to 318 tons, according to the press service of the trading platform. Sales of precious metals under spot transactions amounted to 132 tons (1.2 trillion rubles), swap transactions – 186 tons (1.7 trillion rubles).

Operations with other precious metals were also carried out last year. In particular, sales of silver amounted to 365 tons (52 billion rubles), platinum — 1.6 tons (5.9 billion rubles), and palladium — 1.6 tons (5.4 billion rubles).

“Investments in gold, silver, platinum and palladium are becoming the same norm as, for example, investments in highly reliable bonds. And today, buying precious metals directly or through collective investment instruments is part of a sound strategy aimed at preserving and growing capital, as well as protecting against systemic risks,” said Arina Kostryukova, Director of Currency and Precious Metals Markets at the Moscow Stock Exchange.

As noted in the Moscow Exchange, all transactions are secured with physical metal in the vault. In material terms, the number of trading operations with precious metals has tripled, to 3.6 trillion rubles.
