The first stage of the $120 million plant is planned to be launched in 2025.
The construction of an Uzbek-Chinese metalworking plant has begun in the Tashlak district of the Fergana region, the press service of the regional khokimiyat reported.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the plant was held in the Tarakkiyot industrial zone on August 17 with the participation of khokim Khairullo Bazarov. The project is being implemented by Shangdong Aipurui Steel Plate Co. Ltd.
According to local partner Nodirjon Ruziboev, the plant will meet the domestic demand for metal products and will also be able to ship some of the products for export. The volume of investment in the project is estimated at more than $120 million.
The plant is planned to be built in three stages and create a total of 500 jobs. The launch of the first stage is expected in the first quarter of 2025.
As noted in the khokimiyat, the project investors have already established a legal entity under the name of the Fergana Metallurgical Plant. The agreement to establish a joint venture was signed at the groundbreaking ceremony.
In July, China’s Da Fu opened a metalworking plant in the Yangiyul district. It can produce up to 500 tons of products annually.
