ALROSA will hold an annual auction of investment grade diamonds

On March 19-21, 2025, ALROSA, the world’s leading diamond producer, will traditionally hold an annual auction of investment-grade diamonds from the ALROSA Diamond Exclusive collection. Several dozen high-performance gemstones with the greatest investment potential will be put up for auction.

Auction Lots
Among them are large colorless diamonds of round and fancy cut shapes weighing from 3 to 10 carats, as well as several diamonds of rare fancy colors. The main auction lot will be a 10-carat round diamond of perfect Triple Excellent cut. The diamond is made from a 350 million-year-old diamond mined in Yakutia in 2019. This diamond has reference proportions, polishing and symmetry, thanks to which it demonstrates the brightest radiance and the unique play of light. The cut according to these standards is called “full diamond cut” and is the most expensive. The starting price of the lot exceeds 50 million rubles.

Other significant lots
Two oval-shaped diamonds are also among the most expensive auction lots. One of them, a colorless diamond weighing 6.09 carats, has the highest grade on the D color scale, the second, weighing 5.09 carats, has a rich, evenly distributed bright yellow color (Vivid Yellow).

“According to our estimates, only one out of more than a thousand natural diamonds can be used to create a diamond weighing over 3 carats, and only one out of 10 thousand diamonds has a fancy color. Given the combination of high-quality color characteristics, shapes, and cut quality, the diamonds being auctioned can be classified as exceptionally rare. They not only have great jewelry value, but are also attractive as an investment object,” says Elena Sukhoveeva, head of the ALROSA Diamond Exclusive program.

Total price and terms of the auction
The total value of the lots being auctioned is estimated at 1 billion rubles. More information about the auction lots can be found on the ALROSA Diamond Exclusive website.

The auction starts on March 19 at 11.00 Moscow time. It will be held in an online format and in an open form – with the announced value of lots. Those who wish to participate in the auction can attend the closed pre-auction screenings, which will be held in Moscow on March 19 and 20.
