On the sidelines of the SPIEF, a cooperation agreement was signed between ALROSA, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, and machine-building enterprises, including the largest manufacturers of industrial equipment, JSC Machine-Building Holding and UZTM-KARTEX. One of the main objectives of the agreement is to meet the needs of the world leader in diamond mining with modern domestic technologies and equipment for open-pit and underground mining.
According to the signed document, within the framework of cooperation, ALROSA Group mining enterprises will be supplied with open-pit electric and hydraulic excavators, underground self-propelled drilling rigs, drilling tools, tunneling machines and complexes. It is also envisaged to create warehouse stocks for the prompt supply of units and components.
“In the coming years, we plan to significantly update our fleet of mining machinery and equipment, which currently numbers about 800 units. The share of imported equipment should decrease several times. Today, the focus is on domestic manufacturers. There is a lot of work ahead to test and refine new equipment models to adapt them to our requirements and production conditions, as well as to ensure stable supplies of spare parts. We have gone through exactly the same path with all the manufacturers with whom we have cooperated before,” said ALROSA CEO Pavel Marinychev.
“We are building long-term cooperation between Russian machine builders and subsoil users in matters of technological independence. Our main task in this is to provide the industry with high-tech equipment and components that will have guaranteed demand. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia provides comprehensive assistance to the mining equipment industry, including through state support mechanisms. The total amount of funds allocated since 2015 has amounted to more than 8 billion rubles,” said Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Mikhail Ivanov.
