Antimony concentrate production to be launched in Zabaikalsky Krai in 2027

Geological exploration work is currently underway at the site.
October 29, 2024. An enterprise for the production of commercial antimony concentrate with an antimony content of over 50% is planned to be built at the Solonechenskoye antimony deposit in Zabaikalsky Krai. Commissioning is scheduled for 2027. The operator is the Solonechenskoye Mining and Ore Company. The volume of declared investments is 1.7 billion rubles.
According to the company’s general director Vasily Novikov, the enterprise’s capacity will be more than 9 thousand tons of antimony in concentrate per year. It is planned to carry out additional geological exploration and geoengineering work at the deposit. In the future, it is planned to build a processing plant and the necessary infrastructure facilities. In addition, the company is considering the possibility of expanding production by building a metallurgical processing stage to obtain pure antimony from antimony concentrate. Antimony concentrates are used to produce final products in the form of antimony and its compounds. As Vasily Novikov noted, in metallurgy, antimony is most often used as a component of lead alloy in batteries, as well as an alloying additive in the production of pipes for pumping aggressive liquids, bearings, etc. High-purity antimony is also in demand in the semiconductor industry and in the production of heat-resistant synthetic resins and polymers, fire-resistant fabrics, optical glass, paints and enamels, medical products, and other products. It should be noted that two enterprises are currently developing pure antimony deposits in Russia: Zvezdochka LLC and Sarylakh-Surma LLC (both are part of Gepromining Ltd). The objects are located in the Oymyakonsky District of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
OOO “Mining and Ore Company “Solonechenskoye” is registered in the Gazimuro-Zavodsky District of the Zabaikalsky Krai. The company has held a license for the development of the Solonechenskoye deposit since 2012. The site contains balance reserves of antimony in categories C1 + C2 in the amount of 62.9 thousand tons, as well as off-balance reserves – 4.9 thousand tons. In addition, about 1.4 tons of gold are accounted for at the deposit.
