EuroChem Launches Robot into Mine, Develops Its Own Explosion-Proof Drone

The capabilities of robotic hardware and software systems on walking and tracked platforms were tested in the mine of the Usolsky Potash Plant. Self-propelled robotic systems are designed to inspect the conveyor drift: monitor the roof and search for faults in roller supports, belts and conveyor motors. In addition, the complex can be used to monitor the condition of dangerous workings: the robot will cope if the collapses are not too large. This was reported by representatives of the Digital Technologies and Platforms company.

EuroChem began digitalization with the introduction of tools for safe and efficient production management – solutions using artificial intelligence, audio and video analytics, Internet of Things sensors. Now the company is systematically testing and adapting other modern solutions: drones, UAVs, robotic equipment. At the beginning of 2024, the Usolsky Potash Plant tested a drone to analyze the condition of the mines and its roof, inspect dangerous and hard-to-reach places. The solution is in demand in production, as it helps to effectively solve problems and allows removing people from dangerous areas. EuroChem is currently developing its own explosion-proof drone, as the tested foreign solution requires certification and is no longer available.

The use of a robotic dog is an important step for EuroChem on the way to the mine of the future. When the company starts using a digital twin, such robots will walk around the mines, monitor and update information on them. Employees of the EuroChem IT block gave the self-propelled robotic platform DeepRobotics X20 the legendary name “Dobrynya”. The robotic dog can move autonomously along a pre-built route, in addition, the operator controls the device using a remote control. A hardware and software complex on a tracked platform was also tested in the mine. It coped with the conditions in the mine worse than the robotic dog on a walking platform. /CNews/
