TASS, June 24. The eastern section of the Tsentralnoye deposit with titanium dioxide reserves in the Tambov Region has been put up for auction for 1.99 billion rubles. This follows from data from the electronic platform GIS “Torgy”.
The auction will take place on August 13, and applications will be accepted until July 26.
The starting amount of the one-time payment for the right to use the subsoil on the site is 1.9 billion rubles.
According to Rosnedra, the balance reserves of titanium dioxide on the site are 6.4 million tons, and zirconium dioxide – 830.2 thousand tons.
Previously, Russian companies have already attempted to develop the Tsentralnoye deposit. In 1999, the Tambov Region Administration and Norilsk Nickel signed an agreement on the integrated development of the deposit, and in the summer of 2006, Norilsk Nickel established Titan Mining Company LLC for its development. However, in 2008, based on the results of geological exploration, Norilsk Nickel decided not to continue the work.
According to the Spark system, in 2011, Titan was acquired by the world’s largest titanium producer VSMPO-Avisma, but in 2018 it was bought out by Tambov Region Development Corporation JSC, which is engaged in supporting regionally significant investment projects. At the same time, as follows from the state register of subsoil sites, Titan’s license for the eastern part of the Tsentralnoye deposit was canceled in July 2018.
