The April branch of VNIGNI has developed and approved two new national standards in the field of geological exploration of the subsurface. The projects GOST R 72299-2025 and GOST R 72300-2025, developed by the scientific and analytical center of the Institute, have successfully passed all stages of approval and are officially approved for entry into force on December 1, 2025.
The work on the draft standards was carried out by a team of authors led by the Deputy director of the branch, head of the scientific and analytical center D.A. Astashkin. The team also included specialists O.R. Ortman, O.V. Kharlamova, E.A. Kapranova, K.Y. Oleneva and V.A. Muftakhov.
The approved documents establish modern and accurate methods for studying the properties of rocks.:
● GOST R 72299-2025 “Mountain rocks. Determination of the granulometric composition by laser diffraction”. This standard regulates an advanced method of particle size analysis, ensuring high reliability and objectivity of the results.
● GOST R 72300-2025 “Mountain rocks. Determination of open porosity by the gas-volumetric method”. The standard establishes a uniform methodology for determining porosity, which is a critically important parameter in assessing reservoir properties of rocks.
The standards were included in the National Standardization Program for 2024 and approved by orders of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology No. 1084-ct and No. 1085-ct dated September 19, 2025.
The introduction of these GOSTs will ensure the uniformity of measurement methods in the geological industry, increase the reliability of data in the search and exploration of mineral deposits.
The development required the highest professionalism from the staff of both the scientific and analytical center and the metrology and accreditation sector. Thanks to this work, FSBI VNIGNI has confirmed its status as one of the few scientific institutes in Russia with the competence to create fundamental standards in the field of geological exploration of the subsurface.
