Chukotka increases mining

The Chukotka Autonomous Region summed up the results of mining in January 2025. Gold production in January of this year amounted to 1.68 tons, which is 5% more than in the same period last year. Silver production in January 2025 increased to 13.3 tons, an increase of 44% compared to the same period in 2024.

The growth of mining in the Chukotka Autonomous Region contributes to an increase in tax revenues, which ensure the stability of the regional economy.

According to the Department of Industrial Policy of the Chukotka Autonomous District, as of February 1, 2025, six mining enterprises are producing ore gold in the district.: JSC “Chukotka Mining and Geological Company”, LLC “Boulderstone Mine”, LLC “Kanchalano-Amguemskaya square”, JSC “Base Metals” (assets of Highland Gold), as well as JSC “Karalvey Mine” (part of the Management Company “Golden Projects”), LLC ZK “Mayskoye” (enterprise JSCPolymetal”).

Highland Gold enterprises provided 1.25 tons or 75% of the total gold production in the district. In addition, the Karalvey Mine produced 130 kg of precious metals, and LLC ZK Mayskoye produced 294.4 kg of precious metal.

In parallel with the extraction of gold and silver, gas and coal mining is also actively conducted in the region. Thus, Sibneft–Chukotka LLC produced 6.7 million cubic meters of natural gas in January 2025.

Also in January 2025, coal production in the district amounted to 128.2 thousand tons, which is 3% more than the same period in 2024. In particular, Coal Mine LLC produced 1.98 thousand tons of brown coal, and Beringpromugol LLC — 126.2 thousand tons.
