Largest gold deposit discovered in China

A high-quality gold ore deposit with reserves of about a thousand tons of gold has been discovered in central China. It is estimated to be worth about $83 billion (9 trillion rubles), making it the largest and most valuable deposit ever found.
The deposit is located in Pingjiang County in Hunan Province. Specialists from the province’s Geological Bureau have discovered 40 gold veins at a depth of up to two kilometers, and 3D modeling indicates the possibility of finding additional reserves.
Each ton of ore contains up to 138 grams of gold. This significantly exceeds standard indicators. For example, ore containing more than eight grams of gold per ton is already considered high-quality.
China is already a world leader in gold mining with confirmed reserves of over two thousand tons as of early 2024. This is about 10% of total global production.
The announcement of the new find caused an additional rise in gold prices amid global economic instability.
